In order to
accurately track the labor part of project expenditures it is necessary
to provide a means of posting labor rates. This includes the rate paid
to the employee and the billing rate agreed upon in the body of a
contract if needed. There must also be a way to enter any rate changes
that may occur during the course of a project or maintenance contract.
Also, workman's comp. rates need to be maintained along with the
employer's other burdens such as payroll taxes and workman's comp.
The Labor
Tracking Module does the above using what we call the Rate Structure. The
Labor Tracking Module uses the following arrangement to organize the
rate structure:
|
Rates are always entered under a
unique Company /Job Number pair. A unique Position Code/Class Code pair
contain the default rate. The rate structure components are:
Workman's Comp. Codes -
Entered at the Company level. Can either be per hour or % of gross.
Job Cost Constants - Entered each pay period for each Job Number,
allow the module to calculate the employer's burdens for payroll tax and
benefits.
Position Codes - divides
employees up by groups such as "Office Staff", "Carpenters", etc.
Class Codes - Specific
Job Titles such as "Office Manager" or "Foreman". The pay rates and
billing rates are entered here.
Rate Changes - any change
to pay rates or billing rates are entered in this detail with an "as of"
date, that is, start using these rates on this date. |
